[греч. mikros — малый, маленький, bios — жизнь и греч. logos — слово, учение; лат. processus — продвижение]процессы, основанные на использовании микроорганизмов в промышленности для получания больших количеств полезных микроорганизмов и/или органических соединений. П.м.п. можно разбить на 5 основных групп: а) выращивание микробной биомассы; б) получение продуктов метаболизма микроорганизмов; в) получение ферментов микробного происхождения; г) получение рекомбинантных продуктов и д) биотрансформация веществ. С помощью П.м.п. микробиологическая промышленность производит белково-витаминные концентраты, витамины, аминокислоты, ферментные препараты, антибиотики, бактериальные и вирусные препараты для защиты растений, бактериальные удобрения и др.Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
